Gabriel is the President and co-founder of Candlestick Theatre Society, and the Director and Producer of their first production - Broadway’s Be More Chill.
Fuelled by a dream to make the professional world of theatre attainable to himself and his peers, he started Candlestick to provide more opportunities for the passionate people around him to perform, practice their craft, and be paid for their passions.
The goal is to perform both licensed and original shows, working all year round so that there’s never a dull moment.
Gabe has been performing all his life; as a child in various companies in Ontario, four years of the MAD program, Newsies, Les Miserables, and Rent with YTYP, and now Candlestick Theatre!
Gabe acknowledges that this has all been possible due to the tremendous support from the community, and he is eternally grateful.
Gabe hopes you will come to see Candlestick’s first-ever production and enjoy his performance as leading man, Jeremy Heere.
Cameron has been involved in theatre almost his whole life. From the play club at FH Collins, to performing in multiple productions at the Music Arts and Drama program including; “C’est La Vie” and "Greece". Cameron has also performed in shows with YTYP, where he is a youth steering committee member.
He has also been in many YTYP Productions including Newsies, Les Miseràbles, Beauty and the Beast, and RENT.
Cameron is honoured and ecstatic to be given this opportunity to portray Michael, and to be lucky enough to work with such a talented cast and crew.
Ella has been studying music and singing for over a decade. She has studied dance at The Heart of Riverdale Community Centre, is an alumni of the Music Arts and Drama program at Wood Street School, as well as being one of the originating members of Yukon Theatre for Young People's youth steering committee. She has also worked as a vocalist in-studio with Whispering Willows Records.
Behind the scenes, Ella has been the assistant producer of Yukon Summer Music Camp for the past three years, and has worked with Larrikin Entertainment and the Klondike Follies in various backstage roles, including catering, lighting operation, and assistant stage management, for the past five years.
Ella is excited to be working on this show with the talented folks at Candlestick Theatre and hopes you enjoy the show.
Michael is a Yukon-born actor and singer who is, in fact, so chill that he's never felt strongly about anything, ever.
Some theorize that he is…. the most chill?
Favorite credits include Javert - Les Misérables (YTYP, 2022), Concord Floral (YTYP, 2022), Victor Von Frankenstein - Young Frankenstein (Guild, 2022), Alice in Wonderland (NLSD, 2023), Gaston - Beauty and the Beast (YTYP, 2023) and Roger - Rent (YTYP, 2023).
Luca is grateful to be back on choreographical duties for this show, as well as playing the big guy in a small size himself, Rich!
Luca recently choreographed and performed in Yukon Theatre for Young People's Rent, played Lefou in Beauty and the Beast, and has been in many other YTYP productions over the last few years, including Les Misérables and Concord Floral, while also choreographing the YTYP summer variety shows both this year and last.
He also played the Tin Man in The Heart of Riverdale Community Centre's Down the Yellow Brick Road - his final dance show with the studio after over 15 years of dancing there (pretty much his whole life).
Rich is a complex, hilarious, and challenging role that Luca has been grateful to undertake, and balancing that with choreographing the show has, once again, proven to be an amazing experience.
Ezra Baker is the Secretary of Candlestick Theatre Society as well as Assistant Producer of this production; Be More Chill!
They also are playing Brooke, and are very excited for this opportunity to continue their love for theatre!
Their most notable credits include Yukon Theatre for Young People’s productions of ‘Les Miserables’ (Ensemble), ‘Concord Floral’ (John Cabot - 3), ‘Beauty and the Beast’ (Mrs. Potts), and ‘RENT’ (Ensemble, Mrs. Jefferson, Alexi Darling).
Ezra also completed three semesters of the Music, Arts, and Drama program at Woodstreet Centre during high school.
When Ezra isn’t onstage, you can find them teaching theatre, hanging with friends, or collecting copies of “The Hobbit” by J.R.R. Tolkien.
Ezra plans on continuing theatre in the future, and are currently attending their second year of YNTEP (Yukon Native Teachers Education Program) at Yukon University.
Cohen is an actor, singer, and comedian who recently played Tom Collins in Rent, and Lumière in Yukon Theatre for Young People's 2023 production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast.

Cohen is excited to perform in Candlestick Theatre's first show, Be More Chill.

Halia is a multi-talented performer who has graced the stage in various dance shows, including the beloved classic The Nutcracker for Northern Lights School of Dance.
With 7 years of violin experience, she has also showcased her musical prowess with The Fiddleheads.
Halia's dedication to the arts led her to complete a semester at the MAD program and is returning in the coming year.
She wowed audiences as a swing in The Wolves, at The Guild Hall, performing almost every night.
Additionally, she brought the character of one of 'Les Filles de la Ville' to life in Beauty and the Beast with Yukon Theatre for Young People in 2023.
Halia is thrilled to be apart of this exciting new theatre company and hopes you enjoy the first show of Candlestick Theatre Society.

Whether it be cramming for physics tests every other night, going over lines at 1am, or singing to their heart's content (much to the displeasure of her mother), Sydney keeps it busy.
Jack of all trades, and master of none. Others may just call her plain crazy. But when someone randomly dm’s you on instagram asking if you want to take part in a new theatre company’s first ever show, life tends to get a little crazy.
Take a chill pill they say. Yet as Sydney has come to realize, mayyybe taking a “chill pill” isn’t always the best idea. Especially when that “chill pill” happens to be a super computer from Japan.
Sydney urges you to go buy your tickets to experience a wonderful night of music, dance, and all together fun!
She wants to give a shout out to the people who made this possible, Gabriel Hopkins, Ezra Baker, and Max McLarnon, and all others involved in the creation of this show. They are truly amazing human beings and have done an amazing job on this show so don’t miss out!
Paisley has always been interested in theater and performing on stage.
Last year they did a semester in the Music Arts and Drama program at Wood Street School and they loved it so much that they will be returning this year.
They appeared recently in two MAD productions - Terror At The Big Top and Oddly Animals, The Wolves at The Guild, and Randemonium with YTYP and Round Back at the Guild. They have also appeared in Blueberry Boogie, a short film with the Fiction Film Collective, directed by Marty O'Brien.
Paisley has also worked on Beauty and The Beast and Rent for Yukon Theatre for Young People shows as assistant stage manager and backstage hand.
When they were asked to be assistant stage manager and operate lighting for Be More Chill they were really excited to learn something new. They plan to continue their journey with theater for a very long time.
Dawson is a composer, multi instrumentalist, and a passionate AV Technician who started volunteering as an AV Tech at the age of 14, and has only grown in his love for the art.

Dawson works at the Kwanlin Dün Cultural Center as an A/V Tech and has worked at other local events: Wonderhorse 2022 and The Canada Day Celebration in Shipyards Park.
Dawson is thrilled to work for this new theater company to create new memories and experiences.
Maximus is an interdisciplinary artist residing in Vancouver who's back to assist as Front of House manager for Candlestick Theatre Society's premiere as the newest addition to the Yukon's theatre scene.
He is thrilled to witness the passion and hard work put into this production as some new and familiar faces grace the stage.
